Season 5 Spoilers
Down the Drain - Episode 2
Grissom, Sara, and Nick investigate an A-plot having to do with bomb disposal. It involves a bomb-maker and implications
of terrorism. It seems that Grissom, Sara, and Nick work together on one part of the case, whilst Catherine, Warrick,
and Greg work the other half. The ending is seen through Sara's eyes and is said to be very heartbreaking and chilling. Grissom
and Brass share a drink together and discuss parenthood.
(Thanks to Zenbridge for the spoilers above)
Catherine and Warrick are less than thrilled to learn their newest crime scene is underground in the second episode of
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's fifth season! The CSIs initially think they have two bodies on their hands in
"Down the Drain." After the first decomposed body is discovered, Warrick and Catherine find a floater under the freeway. They
assume he's dead, until his eyes pop open and he informs them he's taking a bath. Catherine shows the floater a polaroid photo
of their victim's body, and he tells her he knew the guy as Nick, and that he used to bring food and presents for people.
Catherine is skeptical. She and Warrick head down to the storm drain tunnel to try to figure out where the victim was killed.
Catherine realizes he must have been swept down the sewer tunnels, so she and Warrick need to backtrack through the sewers
to find where he was slain. Back in the lab, Greg is witnessing his first autopsy. Dr. Robbins examines the body, but he's
unable to determine for sure how the man died. He suspects drowning, but he isn't able to rule out blunt trauma without a
closer look. Greg pales as Dr. Robbins prepares to saw into the victim's head. Catherine is still tracing the body's course
in the sewers. She startles a gambler waiting at a bus stop when she calls up from the sewers to find out what intersection
she's at. He tells her she's at Industrial, south of Tropicana, and then adds that he won't hold the bus for her. Warrick
and Catherine seem to be facing an endless search, until they get a call from the Streets & Sanitation department. It
seems some workers have discovered several small bones across town. The bones could belong to a small animal, or they could
be human..
Viva Las Vegas' - Season 5 Premire
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has tackled everything from scuba divers in trees to dead gorillas and murder
at a Furry convention, but the team have never had to deal with an alien lifeform. Until now.
Season five's premiere episode, "Viva Las Vegas", will reportedly feature a dead alien, found just outside Area 51 in the Nevada Desert. Nick and Sara (who has returned from
a vacation after the events of bloodlines) are called to the scene, where they meet up with Detective Travis, recently transferred
to Vegas from Los Angeles. The news has spread like wildfire across the Internet and a large crowd of people dressed up as
aliens and sci-fi characters has massed at the scene.
Of course, it's not a real alien — but, hey, this is Vegas, where anything goes! The deceased was buried in an
alien costume from the Chapel of Inter-Galactic Love, the place for sci-fi fans to tie the knot in Vegas. When Nick and Sara
turn up at the chapel, a couple are being married as Mulder and Scully from The X-Files by a minister wearing exactly
the same alien costume as the victim. Prepare for Star Trek jokes galore as the CSIs try to get to the bottom of a
murder that's out of this world!
Catherine is working a case that's somewhat more down to earth. Carl Johnson, a forty-something golf ball salesman, woke
up in his hotel room to find a woman dead in his bed, her skull bashed in. He says the last thing he remembers is having drinks
at a strip club and claims the woman must have drugged him. Will the evidence support his story?
Grissom has his hands full investigating the shooting of a man in a nightclub, but he's got a more-than-willing assistant
in the form of Greg. His replacement, a well-qualified and attractive young woman by the name of Chandra Moore, has arrived
to take over his job in DNA, meaning Greg is free to work in the field, as per Grissom's promise in "Bloodlines". But with
all the cases being worked on by the Las Vegas Crime Lab (not to mention some teasing from the CSIs), Chandra's first shift
quickly turns into the day from hell.
Viva Las Vegas" is scheduled to air in September, 2004.
UK SPOILERS SEASON 3
4.20 Dead Ringer
The Las Vegas Crime Lab is fielding a team in the annual Baker
to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay when they are called out to investigate the death of a contestant, according to CSI Files sources.
Teams from various law enforcement agencies participate in the real-life event, a 120 mile, 20 stage, foot race which runs
from from Baker, California to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Billy Marsh, a sheriff's deputy from the Special Enforcement Bureau,
was scheduled to run leg 16, the hardest, before turning up dead. The first suspect is Rick Adams, the LAPD's representative
on lap 16, who got into a scuffle with Billy during warm up. Rick had run the same lap against the same SEB contestant for
the past six years, but then Billy showed up, all bluster, and the pair clashed.
Rick suggests that Billy was a "ringer",
a contestant fraudulently transferred into the SEB in order to give them a better chance of winning the leg. The finger of
suspicion then points at Paul Avery, the man who was in competition with Billy for a place in the SEB. They were equals for
their first two SEB tests, but by the third contest Billy was way out in front and took Paul's spot. Could this have been
enough to kill his friend? While Grissom and Catherine work the A-case, Warrick, Nick and
Sara will investigate the death of another Baker to Vegas contestant. Michael Senteno, a police officer, is found shot dead
inside his hotel room with a woman who isn't his wife. Every year he booked the same hotel room during the Baker to Vegas
race for a fling, so why did he end up dead this time?
4.21 Turning of The Screws Grissom and Sara investigate a death on a popular Las
Vegas Hotel's Rollercoaster ride. Into the investigation they discover an extra body which gets them to think foul play was
involved with the ride (hense the title of this episode). Nick may be working this case. Catherine and Warrick work the case
of a missing 11 year old girl who turns up dead. Lots of sex and carnage in this episode.
4.22 No More Bets Yet again, another episode focuses on Catherine and Sam
Braun. The check he wrote her comes into question as Sam is accused of another crime involving money. Catherine's DNA test
against Sam Braun comes into play once again. The bodies of two gambling cheats are discovered
shot execution style, shortly after being caught scamming several of Sam Braun's casinos, making Sam the number one murder
suspect. Grissom is forced to take Catherine off the case because of her biological tie to Sam.
4.23 (Season Finale) Bloodlines
A vicious killer or a man wrongly accused? As Grissom (William Petersen) uncovers the truth, one CSI ends up on the
other side of the law. The evidence has never lied until now.
The episode, entitled "Bloodlines", revolves around five brothers, one of whom is suspected of raping a woman, Linley
Parker, by the side of the highway. Set against this difficult background is Nick and Sara's competition for promotion and
Greg's desire to get out in the field full-time.
Entitled "Bloodlines", the episode deals with the rape of a woman called Linley Parker, according to CSI Files sources.
Linley is driving home from work when an SUV hits her car. The man gets out and apologises, but then punches her in the face.
He throws Linley over his shoulder and takes her into the undergrowth, where he rapes her. During the horrific ordeal, he
keeps on forcing Linley to look at him.
Catherine and Sara visit Linley in hospital, but Sara opts out of the interview to take
some of the evidence back to the lab. Catherine takes the statement, then arranges for Linley to meet with Karen Taylor, a
forensic artist. The likeness Karen produces is so accurate that Linley throws up on the spot.
Catherine tries to match the forensic sketch of the assailant with a database of driver's licenses.
She comes up trumps with Todd Coombs, a psychologist. Linley identifies him in the line-up. There's no doubt in her mind:
it's him. But his DNA doesn't match the semen of the rapist. Damn.
There is a ray of hope, though. Todd's DNA shows he's related to the rapist, who is probably
a brother. Sara, who puts herself back on the case, examines the Coombs family tree. She discovers that Todd doesn't just
have one brother, but four: Roger, Larry, Stuart and Kevin.
The CSIs split up. Sara and Detective Vartan visit Stuart, a home security officer, while Warrick
and Detective Brass track down Roger and Larry, who own a used car business (which has plenty of SUVs, incidentally). Kevin
doesn't have an address listed.
As if four possible suspects weren't a big enough headache for the CSIs, the case soon takes
a tragic turn when Linley is abducted from her car. There is one lead: she had her cell phone on her at the time. Using their
GPS system to track Linley's cell phone, the team spread out over the Las Vegas desert in a desperate attempt to find her
before it's too late...
